HERNDON, Va. (AP) _ Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (BECN) reported a loss of $ 6.3 million in its fiscal second quarter on Thursday.
The Herndon, Virginia-based company said it had a loss of 18 cents a share. Earnings, adjusted for one-off gains and costs, were 23 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street’s expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research was for a profit of 1 cent per share.
The roofing materials distributor posted sales of $ 1.32 billion for the period, meeting Street’s expectations.
Shares of Beacon Roofing are up 47% since the beginning of the year. In the closing minutes of trading on Thursday, shares reached $ 59.01, more than doubling in the past 12 months.
