Carpet Design Awards finalists selected
Hannover, Germany – An international jury of design and carpet industry experts has selected finalists for the Carpet Design Awards 2021.
Domotex said 27 finalists have reached the final round of the carpet design competition and judges will select from 396 handmade rugs submitted worldwide from Australia to Canada. Three exclusive units from each of the nine categories, combining design, quality and craftsmanship, made it to the final. Selection criteria included design and design concept, material, finish, texture and quality, as well as durability and branding.
The awards, presented for the 16th time in collaboration with Hoes and Status, have been celebrating contemporary carpet design for over 15 years. “Everything is different this year,” says Sonia Wedell-Castellano, global director, Domotex, Deutsche Messe AG. “We are all the more pleased with the many international entries, confirming our decision to hold the Carpet Design Awards again this year and to have the ceremony take place virtually. The public can look forward to many innovative and first-class designs and discover trends and novelties. The Carpet Design Awards are always a highlight and are highly regarded in the international carpet industry – their results are eagerly awaited. “
Graham Head, carpet expert and former president and vice president of ABC Carpet & Home, added: “This year the CDA was very unique and interesting because so many of us were forced into isolation. The lack of usual fairs, following trends and cross-pollination really sparked some creativity within the carpet industry. What really amazed me was the quality and originality that was visible in all entries, a special case of purity of design without corruption. It was an absolute pleasure to be on the jury again. “
The winners will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony on May 20, 2021 during a virtual live event and broadcast on the Domotex website, according to the show’s organizers.
