A new HBO series starring Woody Harrelson is filming in Upstate New York.
The Times Union reports the five-part miniseries about the Watergate scandal, “The White House Plumbers,” which will be filmed Tuesday and Wednesday in downtown Albany this week. Police say Academy Park across from the State Capitol will be used for filming, as well as backdrop buildings on State Street and Broadway; several streets are closed during the day and at night.
“The White House Plumbers” is a limited series starring Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt and Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy, a former assistant district attorney of Dutchess County. The cast also includes Domhnall Gleeson and Kathleen Turner, but it’s unclear how many of them will be in Albany.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Harrelson was in Newburgh last month filming scenes for the show. according to The Daily Freeman, scenes were also shot in Kingston and Poughkeepsie.
The Capital Region has become a hot spot for film and TV productions, most recently featuring cast and crew for HBO’s”The Gilded Age” in Troy and Amazon’s “Modern Love” in Albany.
