HVAC system issue draws fire response to dialysis center near Mt. Carmel – The Shenandoah Sentinel

STRONG, Northumberland County – Firefighters from the Mount Carmel area responded to a dialysis center near this Mount Carmel Township village on Friday.

Firefighters were called to the DaVita Northumberland center on Route 61 at around 11:30 am.

According to on-site first responders, a problem with the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system caused smoke in the facility’s waiting area.

The facility was immediately evacuated, with Mt. Carmel Township Police arrive to discover everyone.

Crews stayed on site for about an hour and a half to investigate to make sure there was no active fire.

Responding were firefighters from Strong, Atlas, Kulpmont, Locust Gap, Mount Carmel, and more, as well as Mt. Carmel Township Police, AREA Services EMS, and Elysburg EMS.
