Mohawk Group achieves WELL Health-Safety rating

Calhoun, Georgia. – Mohawk Group has officially achieved the WELL Health-Safety classification for all of its commercial showrooms and design studios through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). As one of the first flooring manufacturers to earn this award after going through a rigorous appraisal process, the Mohawk Group is proud to lead transparently and safely welcome customers and visitors back.

The WELL Health-Safety classification is an evidence-based, third-party verified classification for all new and existing building and space types that focus on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder involvement and contingency plans to implement a post-COVID 19 environment now and in the future.

“The WELL Health-Safety Rating helped the Mohawk Group prepare our spaces for re-entry in the aftermath of the pandemic, and instilled confidence in those passing through the building as well as the wider community,” said Ramie Vagal, senior manager of sustainability. “This prestigious seal represents our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of everyone who enters our spaces. The WELL Seal is truly about embracing and creating people first places, and the Mohawk Group is committed to continuously improving the health and safety of all of our locations. “

The WELL Health-Safety classification provides a centralized resource and governing body to validate the efforts of owners and operators. It uses insights from the IWBI Task Force on COVID-19, in addition to guidelines on the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), worldwide disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, as well as recognized standardizing associations such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions, as well as core principles already established by IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, the main framework for promoting health in buildings and spaces of all kinds .

Mohawk Group received the WELL Health-Safety rating at the Light Lab in Dalton, Georgia, the Mohawk Group Personal Studio in Chicago and its showrooms in Chicago, Dallas, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto following the successful completion of a external documentation review by GBCI to confirm that it meets the specific intentions and requirements of the position.
