Pattern Energy Group has announced that it has successfully completed construction and commenced operations on its 83-MWAC Phoenix Solar Project located in Fannin County, Texas.
“Phoenix Solar is the latest example of Pattern Energy’s growing solar business and ongoing investment in Texas. This new solar facility is delivering strong benefits with over $15 million in revenue for Fannin County and its local schools, while producing clean power for 20,000 homes,” said Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy. “New renewables like Phoenix Solar make sense to communities because they are the cheapest form of new energy and their investments deliver jobs, growth and positive economic impact in the rural areas where they are developed.”
Phoenix Solar uses First Solar Series 6 modules and NEXTracker NX Horizon trackers. Mortenson Construction provided engineering and construction services for the project. The project has a 65 MWAC, 12-year power purchase agreement with Digital Realty.
“We are excited to further expand our renewable energy portfolio in Texas,” said Aaron Binkley, senior director of sustainability at Digital Realty. “We attach great importance to sourcing net-new renewable energy sources in our data centers. Phoenix Solar, located less than an hour’s drive from our data center campus in Richardson, Texas, does just that.”
