Plumber discovers secret cellar hidden under his lawn and transforms it into TOILET

A plumber who discovered a secret underground bunker in his yard has transformed it into a £1,000 toilet for his open-air man cave.

Unwilling to reveal his last name, Sam, 34, found the bunker two years ago while excavating and leveling his lawn at his home in Liversedge, West Yorkshire.

He immediately set to work transforming the building into an outdoor toilet for his self-made man cave in his garden. The bunker is now getting a lot of use and being used a lot by Sam and his friends and family.

Sam explained: ‘We originally found it in 2019 while I was digging and leveling the yard for a new lawn.

Sam explained: ‘We originally found it in 2019 while I was digging up and leveling the garden for a new lawn

He has now turned the hidden basement into a toilet for his friends and family to use when they come over and spend time in the garden

Sam said: ‘My spade went right through the ground in a void and my father-in-law came to look and we discovered the old wooden roof and stone stairs’

“My father-in-law David suggested we keep digging – I didn’t like it very much, but I was so glad I listened to him.

“It took us a few days to dig it out and carry all the soil and rocks out by hand.

“I thought it was an old basement of an old house that had been torn down, but I’ve been in touch with people who said it looked like an old bunker.

Sam (pictured) said: ‘I’m a plumber, so it made sense to make the most of the space and turn it into a toilet’

Sam first found the underground basement in 2019 and immediately set to work turning it into a toilet

He said: ‘I built it with most of the materials we excavated, so in total it only cost about £1,000 to build, but it was well worth it’
