Police give Plumbers Arms until 8pm to ‘get situation under control or it will be shut down’

Police threaten to close a pub at kick-off as English fans stand up.

Our reporter Robert Sutcliffe is at The Plumbers Arms in Huddersfield to soak up the atmosphere as England prepare for Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

But the site’s security adviser has said West Yorkshire Police are not happy with fans in the venue getting up and singing and police have apparently warned the venue to either keep the situation under control or be shut down.

Officers have reportedly given the pub an 8pm deadline to prevent fans from standing, and an additional 150 seats have been placed at the venue.

Plumbers Arms security adviser Stephen Knight tells our reporter Robert Sutcliffe West Yorkshire Police have told them that unless they “had the situation under control by 8pm they would shut it down”.

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
